Ever since I decided to color my hair for the first time in middle school, I have had trouble with the color fading quickly and looking reddish. The warmer shades are not flattering to my skin tone, but the cooler shades are often hard to achieve.

When I was shopping at Ulta Beauty, I saw they had a color depositing cleanser/conditioner on display. After testing out other toning and coloring methods, I decided to try this product which contains semipermanent hair dye. I got the color "onyx" which is the deepest black, to give the darkest overcast.

Keracolor is vegan, as well as sulfate and paraben free. It retails for $22.00. The description says it will infuse color, add hues, and maintain vibrancy, while promoting shine and softness between salon visits. The instructions say to wet your hair, apply the product to your entire head, comb it through, and let it sit for 3-20 minutes before rinsing. I wanted a more dramatic change, so after doing some research, I decided to apply it to dry hair so the color could fully saturate the strands.

“What were the results?"

After I finished the process, my hair instantly felt softer and easier to brush. The final color was shiny, rich, and very dark brown. While I was washing it out, I noticed the water was green. This is the key for achieving cool tones, because it counteracts the hints of red. One downside is that the new color did not last longer than 5-10 washes. This product is great for a quick fix, and can easily keep your hair looking refreshed and toned 24/7 if you use it regularly. I will be using it again and would definitely recommend trying it out!
