FAKE EYELASH TRICKS: MAKE STRIP LASHES LOOK LIKE EXTENSIONS

Ever since I first started wearing fake eyelashes I have loved how they accentuate my eyes and add symmetry to my face. I have been asked so many times if I have eyelash extensions, but they are actually just strip lashes. I love the look of extensions, but do not like the feeling of having them on 24/7 or how they can weigh down your eyes. This is why I figured out how to achieve the look with strips.

After trying tons of different brands and styles, these have become my go-to. They are called Ardell 3D Faux Mink #858 and range from $6-$7 at stores like Target, Sally Beauty, and Ulta Beauty. It does not matter which style you get, the important part is getting faux mink because they look real and feathery, rather than plastic-like. I also find that lashes with a clear band are much more comfortable and natural for every day wear than those with thick black lash bands.

When I get a new pair of lashes, the first thing I do is trim them to fit my eye size. Hold them up to your eye to determine how much you need to cut off. I usually cut one chunk off of the outer corner. It is important to cut from the outside because if you take off the shortest inner corner lashes, they will be too long and won't look gradual.

The most important step is curling the fake eyelashes before you put them on. This makes them look a million times better because they will no longer stick straight out. This is how you get the lash extension look:

To do this you just set your fake eyelash into the lash curler and curl them at the base, then the middle, then the ends, just like you would with your natural lashes.

Once you are done curling, curl your natural lashes as well, then apply a little bit of mascara. Next, put a layer of eyelash glue across the lash band. I use the Ardell DUO Striplash Adhesive in the color black because it covers the clear band. It is very important to wait about 30 seconds for the glue to get tacky before putting them on. If you do it while the glue is too wet, they will slide around. The easiest way to apply lashes is by using eyelash tweezers. Place the lash exactly where you want it in the middle of your eye, then secure the inner and outer corners. Let it fully dry, then you are done!

At the end of the day I take off my lashes and remove the glue with makeup remover. I feel like the eyelashes look much better and more realistic after multiple wears so I wear the same pair for a while and just clean them with Micellar water and alcohol!
